fr-Chapter 25 - Nature

The Laws of Nature
1. I have taught you to regard God as the All-One, as the miracle beyond the limits of your spiritual imagination, as the power that causes movement and action throughout the entire universe—as the life that manifests itself both in the simplest plant and in those worlds that travel their paths by the millions in space, without any of them disobeying the law that governs them.
2. That law is I, your God; it is the law of ceaseless development, which amazes humanity and opens up vast fields of research that enable it to penetrate ever deeper into the mysteries of nature. (359, 74–75)
3. Understand that the Law is the path paved by the love of the Supreme Creator to guide each of His creatures. Reflect on the life that surrounds you, which consists of an infinite number of elements and organisms, and you will eventually discover that every body and every being moves along a path or a course that appears to be guided by a foreign and mysterious power. This power is the Law that God has enacted for each of His creatures.
4. As you explore these significant processes, you will ultimately come to realize that indeed everything lives, moves, and grows under a supreme command. (15, 4)
The Presence of God in Nature
5. Seek Me in all the works I have accomplished, and you will be able to find Me everywhere. Try to hear Me, and you will hear Me in the mighty voice that emanates from all creation; for it is no difficulty for Me to express Myself through the beings of creation.
6. I reveal Myself in a star, in the fury of a storm, and in the lovely light of a dawn. I let My voice resound in the melodious song of a bird, just as I express Myself through the fragrance of flowers. And every one of My forms of expression, every aspect, every work speaks to you of love, of the fulfillment of the laws of justice, of wisdom, and of eternity in the spiritual. (170, 64)
Nature, God's Creation and a Parable for the Spiritual
7. Many have made nature their god by deifying it as the creative source of all that exists. But truly, I tell you, this nature, from whose bosom all beings have emerged—the material forces and the natural realms that surround you—is not the Creator; it was first planned and created by the divine Creator. It is neither the cause nor the reason for life. I alone, your Lord, am the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. (26, 26)
8. Everything that surrounds and envelops you in this life is a reflection of Eternal Life, a profound teaching explained through material forms and objects so that it may be understood.
9. You have not yet penetrated to the heart of this wondrous teaching, and humanity has erred once again because it has conceived of the life it leads on earth as if it were eternity. He has contented himself with dealing with the outward forms and has spurned all that it contains of divine revelation—that which is the essence and truth present throughout all creation. (184, 31-32)
10. I will withhold nothing from you of what I have placed in nature for the sustenance, health, nourishment, well-being, and delight of My children.
11. On the contrary, I tell you: Just as I offer you the bread of the Spirit and invite you to inhale divine essences and refresh yourselves with spiritual fragrances, so too should you neither disregard nor turn away from what nature bestows upon you; for in this way you will attain harmony, h , health, and energy, and thereby the proper fulfillment of the laws of life. (210, 22)
12. The irrational being is guided by instinct, which is its inner voice, its master, its guide. It is like a light that comes from its mother, Nature, and illuminates the path it must travel in its life—a path that is also one of dangers and risks.
13. Take as an example the harmony with which every species lives, the activity of those who are industrious. Take to heart the examples of loyalty or gratitude. These are examples that contain divine wisdom, for they come from My creatures, who likewise sprang from Me, so that they may surround and accompany you in your world, so that they may share in what I have placed upon the earth. (320, 34; 37)
The Power of God's Children Over Nature
14. The forces of nature will obey you if you fulfill My law and ask Me for this for the good of your fellow human beings. (18, 47)
15. Have I not taught you that even the unleashed forces of nature can hear your prayer and be calmed? If they obey My voice—why then should they not also obey the voice of the Lord's children when they have prepared themselves? (39, 10)
16. I have given the spirit power over matter so that it may emerge victorious from the trials and reach the final goal of the path. Yet the struggle will be great; for since man created the only realm in the world in which he believes, he has destroyed the harmony that should exist between him and all that surrounds him. From his proud throne, he would like to subject everything to the power of his science and impose his will upon the elements and forces of nature. Yet he has not succeeded in this; for long ago he severed the bonds of friendship with the spiritual laws.
17. When I told this people here that the forces of nature can obey them, there were some who did not believe it, and I tell you that they have reason to doubt; for nature will never obey those who disregard, desecrate, or mock it. On the other hand, whoever knows how to live in harmony with the laws of the Spirit and of matter—that is, whoever lives in harmony with all that surrounds him—will be in harmony with his Creator during his life and will earn the right for the elements of nature to serve and obey him, just as it is fitting for every child who is obedient to his Father, the Creator of all things. (105, 39)
18. I do not lie, nor do I exaggerate, when I tell you that the realms of nature can hear your voice and will obey and respect you.
19. The history of Israel was written down as a testimony to My truth, and in it you can discover how the people of God were recognized and respected time and again by the forces and elements of nature. Why should this not apply to you?
20. Do you think that My power or My love for humanity has changed over time? No, you multitudes who hear this word, the light of My Spirit floods over you; My power and My love are eternal and unchanging. (353, 64)
Man and Nature
21. But you must beware, O peoples of the earth, for if you continue to use My divine inspirations to defy the forces of nature—if you continue to use the meager knowledge you possess for evil—you will receive a painful and severe response when you least expect it. You defy air, fire, earth, water, and all the forces of nature, and you already know what your harvest will be if you do not correct your ways in time to halt the forces of nature unleashed by your folly.
22. I draw your attention to the fact that you are on the verge of filling the measure that My justice allows your free will; you are challenging nature too much. And since you are the little ones who feel great, this word comes to warn you of the danger in which you find yourselves. (17, 60)
23. I told you that no leaf moves from the tree without My will, and now I tell you that no element of nature obeys any will other than Mine.
24. I also tell you that nature can be whatever people want it to be: a mother lavish with blessings, caresses, and nourishment, or a barren desert where hunger and thirst reign; a master of wise and infinite revelations about life, goodness, love, and eternity, or a relentless judge in the face of human disobedience and straying. Desecrations,
25. My Father's voice said to the first humans, blessing them: "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth; subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every living creature that moves upon the earth."
26. Yes, humanity, I created man so that he might be lord and have power in the air, in the waters, over the entire land, and in the natural realms of creation. Yet I said, "Lord"; for mankind—believing they rule the earth through their science—are slaves. Although they believe they have mastered the elements of nature, they become victims of their immaturity, their presumption, and their ignorance.
27. Human power and science have conquered the earth, the seas, and the air; but their power and might are not in harmony with the power and might of nature, which—as an expression of divine love—is life, wisdom, harmony, and perfection. In the works of men, in their science and their power, only arrogance, selfishness, vanity, and malice are manifested. (40, 26–30)
28. Do you recognize the disturbed balance of the forces of nature and the profound transformation they have undergone? Are you aware of why you are being afflicted by their unleashed forces? The reason is that you have broken the harmony that exists between spiritual and material life, thereby bringing about the chaos in which you are now sinking. But as soon as humanity obeys the laws that govern life, all will once again be peace, abundance, and bliss. (108, 56)
29. How can your works on earth be perfect when I see you at odds with the elements of nature, which are precisely those from which you derive your sustenance?
30. My teaching does not seek to prevent you from utilizing the elements and forces of nature, but it calls upon you and teaches you to use them for good purposes.
31. The forces of nature in your hands can turn from friends and brothers into judges who will severely punish you.
32. It was long past time for humanity to reap the fruit of experience, so that they might no longer defy the forces of nature. For with all their science, they will be unable to stop them. (210, 43-46)
33. The tree of science will be shaken by the fury of the hurricane and will let its fruits fall upon humanity. Yet who has loosened the bonds of those elemental forces, if not man?
34. True, the human beings of old also came to know pain, so that they might awaken to reality, to the light of conscience, and submit themselves to a law. But the developed, conscious, and educated human being of this age—how can he dare to desecrate the tree of life! (288, 28)
35. To those who believe that I punish humanity by unleashing the forces of nature upon them, I say that they are succumbing to a great error in thinking so. For nature develops and transforms, and in its changes or transitions, upheavals arise that cause you suffering if you do not fulfill My law; yet you attribute them to divine punishments.
36. My justice does indeed work within them; yet if you—beings favored with the divine spark that illuminates your soul—lived in harmony with the nature surrounding you, your spirit would have lifted you above the changes and the power of the forces of nature, and you would not suffer. (280, 16)
37. What is nature other than a great creature? Yes, disciples, a creature that likewise develops, purifies, unfolds, and perfects itself so that it may harbor within its bosom the people of tomorrow.
38. How often are you disheartened by its natural transitional phenomena on the path to that perfection, regarding them as punishments from God, without realizing that you, too, are purifying yourselves, developing, and moving toward perfection together with nature and creation. (283, 57-58)
