fr-Chapter 29 - Purification and Ascension of Souls in the Hereafter

Remorse, Repentance, and Self-Accusation
1. I do not want your soul to be defiled, nor do I want it to die with regard to true life. Therefore, I punish you with my justice when I find you given over to harmful pleasures and amusements. Your soul must come to my bosom pure, just as it sprang from it.
2. All who leave their bodies behind in the earth and depart from this world in a state of confusion awaken—when they behold My presence, revealed in the light of eternity that illuminates the spirit—from their deep sleep amid bitter tears and in the despair of self-reproach. As long as the child's pain persists in order to free itself from its sufferings, the father also suffers. (228, 7–8)
3. Remorse and torment arising from a lack of knowledge—suffering because of the lack of spiritualization needed to rejoice in that life—this and more is contained in the atonement of souls who arrive at the thresholds of spiritual life defiled or unprepared.
4. Recognize that I cannot regard the sin, the imperfections, or the depravity of human beings as an offense inflicted upon the Father, since I know that human beings inflict evil upon themselves. (36, 56)
5. How luminous your life would be, and how magnificent and pioneering your science would be, if you would love your neighbors and do the will of your Father—if you would sacrifice a portion of your free will and act in accordance with what your conscience commands. Your science would then, in transcending the boundaries of the material, touch the supernatural; for so far it has not even approached those boundaries.
6. What consternation the soul of the scientist feels when it leaves this world and finally stands before divine truth! There, filled with shame, it lowers its face and asks that its arrogance be forgiven. It believed it knew and could do everything, denying that anything existed beyond its knowledge or comprehension. But now, standing before the Book of Life, before the infinite work of the Creator, it must recognize its own wretchedness and clothe itself in humility before Him who is absolute wisdom. (283, 48–49)
7. Do not fear that upon your arrival in the Spiritual World you will have to think about the sins you committed on earth. If you allow yourselves to be cleansed of pain and repentance bursts forth from your hearts, if you strive to make amends for your transgressions, you will enter my presence worthy and pure, and no one, not even your conscience, will dare to mention your past imperfections.
8. In the perfect homeland, there is a place for every soul that awaits the arrival of its owner, whether in time or in eternity. On the ladder of love, mercy, faith, and merit, you will enter My kingdom one by one. (81, 60-61)
Compensatory Justice
9. I have had few disciples in this world, and even fewer who have been like an image of the Divine Master. In the Spiritual Valley, however, I have many disciples, for there one makes the most progress in grasping My teachings. It is there that My little children, those who hunger and thirst for love, receive from their Master what humanity denied them. It is there that those who, because of their humility, went unnoticed on earth now shine through their virtue, and where those who shone with false light in this world weep in sorrow and repentance.
10. It is in the Hereafter that I receive you, as you did not hope for on earth when, through tears but blessing Me, you atoned for your guilt. It does not matter that you had a moment of fierce rebellion during your life's journey. I will take into account that you had days of great pain and showed resignation in them, blessing My name. You, too, within the limits of your smallness, have experienced some Golgothas, even if these were caused by your disobedience.
11. Behold, through a few moments of faithfulness and love for God, you attain times of life and grace in the hereafter. Thus does My Eternal Love reciprocate the fleeting love of man. (22, 27–29)
12. Every good deed finds its reward, which is not received on earth but in the hereafter. But how many would like to enjoy this bliss already here on earth, without knowing that he who does nothing for his spiritual life will stand without merit upon entering it, and his regret will then be great. (1, 21)
13. Whoever craves the honors and praise of the world may receive them here; but they will be short-lived and of no use to him on the day he enters the spiritual world. Whoever is after money may receive his reward here, for that was what he strove for. Yet when the hour comes in which he must leave everything behind here to enter the afterlife, he will have not the slightest right to claim any reward for his soul, even if he believes he has done much for charity.
14. In contrast, the one who has always rejected flattery and favors, who has loved his fellow human beings with a pure heart and selflessly and has turned down every material reward, who has been busy sowing goodness, and who has taken joy in perform acts of love—such a person will not think of rewards, for he will not live for his own satisfaction, but for that of his neighbors. How great will be his peace and bliss when he is then in the bosom of his Lord! (253, 14)
15. I bring you pure and perfect instruction in this time, which is why I tell you that at the end of your day's work, only what you have done in life with true love will be credited to you; for this will prove that you knew the truth. (281, 17)
16. Do not think—because at the moment you perform a good deed you do not know its value—that you will never experience the good you have done. I tell you that none of your deeds will go unrewarded.
17. When you are one day in the spiritual realm, you will realize how often a small deed, seemingly of little importance, was the beginning of a chain of good deeds—a chain that others made ever longer, but which will forever fill the one who began it with satisfaction. (292, 23-24)
18. I inspire you to earn merits; but you should not be motivated by the selfish desire for your own salvation, but rather you should perform your deeds with your fellow human beings in mind, with future generations in mind, whose joy will be very great when they find the path smoothed by the "First Ones." Then your happiness will be boundless, for the joy and peace of your brothers and sisters will also reach your soul.
19. How different it is for those who seek only their own salvation and bliss; for when they arrive at the place they have earned through their deeds, they cannot have a moment's peace or joy when they look upon those they have left behind, who bear the heavy burden of their sufferings.
20. Truly, I tell you, the true disciples of this teaching will be righteous and pure in their deeds, just as their spirit is—which is My own light. (290, 76–77)
21. If you are humble, your spiritual wealth will increase in the life that awaits you. Then you will have the peace that brings you the most beautiful sensation of your existence. And in your spirit will be born the longing to serve the Father by being a faithful guardian of all that I have created, by being a comfort to the suffering and peace to the restless. (260, 29)
The Ascent of Souls into the Kingdom of God
22. This is the "Third Age," in which your soul can already begin, while still on earth, to dream of very high planes of existence and very great insights. For whoever departs from this world, carrying within his soul the knowledge of what he will find and the unfolding of his spiritual gifts, will traverse many worlds without lingering in them, until he reaches the one in which he is entitled to dwell by virtue of his merits.
23. He will be fully aware of his spiritual state and will know how to carry out his task wherever he may be. He will understand the language of love, harmony, and justice, and will be able to communicate with the clarity of the spiritual language, which is thought. There will be no obstacles, distress, or tears for him, and he will increasingly experience the immeasurable joy of approaching the abodes that belong to him, for they are his eternal inheritance. (294, 55)
24. On the divine ladder of heaven there is an infinite number of beings whose spiritual perfection allows them to occupy various levels according to the stage of development they have attained. Your soul was created with suitable qualities to develop on this ladder of perfection and to reach the goal established in the high decrees of the Creator.
25. You do not know the destiny of those souls, yet I tell you that it is perfect, like all that I have created.
26. You still do not comprehend the gifts the Father has bestowed upon you. But do not worry, for later you will become aware of them and experience how they fully reveal themselves.
27. The infinite number of souls who, like you, inhabit different planes of existence, are united among themselves by a higher power, which is that of love. They were created for the struggle, for their higher development, not for stagnation. Those who have fulfilled My commandments have become great in divine love.
28. I remind you, however, that even when your soul has attained greatness, power, and wisdom, it will not become omnipotent, for its attributes are not infinite as they are in God. Nevertheless, they will suffice to bring you to the summit of your perfection along the straight path that the love of your Creator has laid out for you from the very first moment. (32, 34, 37)
29. Your soul must pass through seven stages of spiritual development to attain perfection. Today, while you still live on earth, you do not know on which rung of the heavenly ladder you stand.
30. Although I know the answer to this question of your soul, I am not permitted to tell you at this time. (133, 59-60)
31. Every rung, every step, every level of life offers the soul greater light and more perfect bliss. But the highest peace, the perfect happiness of the soul, lies beyond all the temporary abodes of souls.
32. How many times will you think you feel the perfect happiness in the bosom of God in advance, without realizing that that happiness is merely a foretaste of the world to come, to which you must journey after this life. (296, 49-50)
33. How many dream of dying in the expectation that this moment will bring them to Me, so that they may then worship Me eternally in Heaven, without knowing that the path is infinitely longer than they have believed. To ascend even one step higher on the ladder of Heaven that will lead you to Me, one must have lived the human life in the right way. Ignorance is to blame for the fact that many misunderstand the meaning of My teachings. (164, 30)
34. Through humanity, the forces of destruction have been unleashed. War has sown its seed in every heart. How much pain has humanity endured! How much desolation, misery, orphanhood, and grief has it left in its wake! Do you think that the souls of those who have fallen in battle have perished, or that that part of life—eternity—which dwells within man no longer exists?
35. No, people: The soul survives war and death. This part of my own spirit has risen from the fields of pain and seeks, along my path, a new horizon to continue living, unfolding, and developing. (262, 26-27)
36. I have given you the earth so that you may all possess it equally, so that you may live in peace and use it as a temporary home in which you develop your abilities and prepare your soul to ascend to its new dwelling place.
37. I have told you: "In the house of the Lord there are many mansions." You will come to know them as you ascend. Each one will bring you closer to Me to an increasing degree, and you will attain them according to your works, for all is subject to divine order and justice.
38. No one will be able to prevent your transition from one plane of life to another, and at the end of each one there will be joy and celebration in your spirit and in Mine as well.
39. Thus do I prepare you, so that you may know that the path you must traverse is long, and that you do not content yourselves with your first works, thinking that they will already open the door to those abodes for you.
40. Yet I also tell you this: that it is beautiful and fulfilling for a spirit to reach the end of a stage of development and pause to look back upon the path traveled—with its great struggles, its days of bitterness, and its hours of peace—after having overcome countless obstacles.
41. Finally, the triumph, the reward, and the justice that shine around you, and the Spirit of your Father—present, glorious, blessing the child of , and letting it rest in His bosom until it is prepared for its next stage of life. Thus it proceeds from one to the next, until it finally reaches the highest fulfillment, to dwell with Me eternally. (315, 34–36)
42. The spark of spirit that makes man like his Creator will draw ever closer to the infinite flame from which it sprang, and that spark will be a luminous being—conscious, radiant with love, full of knowledge and power. That being will rejoice in the state of perfection, in which not the slightest pain or the smallest distress exists, in which perfect and true bliss reigns.
43. If this were not the goal of your spirit—truly, I tell you, I would not have made my teaching known to you through so many discourses, for then the Law of the "First Era" would have been sufficient for you to live in peace on earth.
44. But when you consider that I lived among humanity and promised them an infinitely better world beyond this life, and when you further recall that I promised to return in another time to continue speaking to you and to explain everything you had not understood, you will come to the conclusion that the spiritual destiny of humanity is higher, much higher than anything you could expect, and that the promised bliss is infinitely greater than what you can surmise or imagine. (277, 48-49)
