fr-Chapter 41 - The Connection between This World and the Hereafter
Inspiration and Assistance from the Spiritual World
1. You are all moving up the ladder of spiritual perfection; some have reached a level of development that you cannot yet comprehend, while others are following behind you.
2. The great souls—great through their struggle, through their love, through their effort—seek harmony with their younger siblings, with those who are distant, with the negligent; their tasks are noble and lofty, and their love for My Divinity and for you is likewise very great.
3. These souls know that they were created for action, for higher development; they know that there is no idleness for the children of God. In creation, all is life, movement, balance, harmony; and therefore these countless beings work, strive, and rejoice in their struggle, in the knowledge that in this way they glorify their Lord and serve the progress and perfection of their neighbors.
4. Today, since you have strayed from the path marked out for you by My Law, you are unaware of the influence these brothers and sisters of yours exert upon you; yet if you possess the sensitivity to perceive those radiations, inspirations, and messages they send you, you will have a glimpse of the myriad of activities and noble works to which they dedicate their existence.
5. You must know that those souls, in their love and respect for the Creator's laws, never take what does not belong to them, nor do they touch what is forbidden or intrude where they know they must not, so as not to bring the fundamental elements of creation into disharmony.
6. How different is the conduct of people on Earth, who, in their striving to be great and powerful in the world, seek with the key of science—without the slightest respect for My teachings—the destructive forces of nature, open the gates to unknown powers, and in this way destroy the harmony in the nature that surrounds them!
7. When will humanity learn to make itself receptive to hearing the wise counsel of the Spiritual World and thus allow itself to be guided by its inspirations?
8. Truly, I tell you, this would be enough to lead you safely to the summit of the mountain that awaits you; there you would see before you a straight and luminous path that the souls have traversed, who are now here solely to do you good and assist you in your toil, bringing you step by step closer to the end of the path, where your Father awaits you all.
9. Since I have spoken to you of the goodness and spiritual elevation of those beings, I must tell you that, like you, they too possessed from the very beginning the gift of free will—that is, true and sacred freedom of action—which is proof of the Creator's love for His children. (20, 28–36)
10. You do not walk alone, for My encouragement and My light are with each of you. But in case this should seem insufficient to you, I have placed a spiritual being of light at the side of every human creature to watch over your steps, to warn you of any danger, to serve as a companion in your solitude, and as a staff on the journey of life. These are the beings you call guardian angels or protectors.
11. Never show yourselves ungrateful toward them, and do not be deaf to their inspirations, for your own strength will not suffice to pass all the trials of life. You need those who are more advanced than you and who know something of your future, because I have revealed it to them.
12. The struggle of those beings is very difficult as long as you have not attained spiritualization, because you, for your part, contribute very little to support them in their difficult mission.
13. When your spiritualization allows you to feel and perceive the presence of those of your brothers and sisters who work invisibly, without any display, for the sake of your well-being and your progress, then you will regret having forced them to toil so hard and also to suffer because of your sins. But if this insight arises within you, it is only because light has already dawned in your mind. Then compassion, gratitude, and understanding for them will awaken.
14. What great joy there will be in your guardians when they see that their efforts are supported by you, and that their inspiration is in harmony with your elevation!
15. You have so many brothers and sisters and so many friends in the "Spiritual Valley" whom you do not know.
16. Tomorrow, when the knowledge of spiritual life has spread across the globe, humanity will recognize the significance of those beings at your side, and people will bless My providence. (334, 70-76)
17. Truly, I tell you, if your faith were firm, you would not have the desire to sense the presence of the Spiritual with the senses of the flesh, for then it would be the soul, with its subtle sensitivity, that would perceive that world which pulsates ceaselessly around you.
18. Yes, humanity, even if you feel distant from the spiritual world, those beings cannot feel distant from human beings, for there are no distances, no boundaries, nor obstacles for them. They live in the spiritual realm, and therefore they cannot be distant from the lives of human beings, whose highest destiny is the upward development and perfection of the soul. (317, 48–49)
19. The only distance that exists between you and God or between you and a spiritual being is not a material distance, but a spiritual one, caused by your lack of preparation, purity, or readiness to receive inspiration and spiritual influence.
20. Never place that distance between yourselves and your Master or between yourselves and the Spiritual World, and you will always enjoy the blessings that My love pours out upon those who know how to seek them. You will always feel that the Spiritual World is close to the hearts of those who prepare themselves to feel it.
21. How great is the distance that the humanity of this age places between itself and spiritual life! It is so great that the people of today therefore feel God infinitely far from themselves and consider the Kingdom of Heaven to be distant and unattainable. (321, 76-78)
22. I tell you that there is not a single human mind that does not live under the influence of the Spiritual World.
23. Many will deny this, yet no one will be able to prove that it is impossible for the human mind to receive the thoughts and vibrations not only of spiritual beings and one's fellow human beings, but also of Mine.
24. This is a revelation for all humanity—a revelation that, when disseminated, will find open hearts that will receive it with great joy; yet it will also encounter stubborn opponents and adversaries.
25. But what can these do to prevent the light of the Spiritual Realm from shining in the lives of people? What means can the unbelievers employ to eliminate that vibration? Who is the one who considers himself to be outside the universal influence, which is the creative and life-giving power of God?
26. I speak to your spirit, to your soul, and to your reason, yet I tell you once more that you receive messages, ideas, and inspirations from other planes of existence, and that just as you do not know from whence your soul came to incarnate in this body of yours, neither do you know who reveals Himself to it, invisible and imperceptible. (282, 33-37)
Confused and Malicious Spirits
27. This time is different from the First and Second. Today you live in a chaos of unleashed visible and invisible elements. Woe to him who does not watch, for he will succumb, and he who is prepared must fight!
28. Thousands of invisible eyes are watching you; some to lie in wait for you on your path and bring you down, others to protect you. (138, 26-27)
29. The great legions of confused souls wage war against humanity, exploiting their ignorance, dullness, and lack of spiritual insight; and humanity has not equipped itself with the weapons of love to protect itself from their attacks, which is why they appear as defenseless beings in this battle.
30. It was necessary for My spiritual teaching to come to you to teach you how you must prepare yourselves to emerge victorious in this battle.
31. From that invisible world that weaves and lives within your own world, influences emanate that afflict people—whether in their minds, their emotions, or their will—and turn them into submissive servants, slaves, tools, and victims. Spiritual revelations appear everywhere, and yet the people of the world still refuse to perceive what surrounds their spirit.
32. It is necessary to begin the battle, to destroy the darkness, so that when the light dawns within people, all may set out, united in a true community, and through prayer prevail in the struggle they wage against those powers that have dominated them for so long.
33. People and nations have succumbed to the power of those influences without humanity even noticing. Rare and unknown diseases generated by them have brought people to their knees and baffled scientists.
34. How much discord, how much confusion and pain has humanity brought upon itself. The lack of prayer, morality, and spirituality has attracted impure and disturbed beings. But what can one expect from those who have departed without light and without preparation?
35. There are those whom you have deceived and oppressed, whom you have disturbed and humiliated. They can send you only confusion and darkness; they can only seek revenge, and they only reproach you. (152, 22-28)
36. Legions of beings of darkness descend upon humanity like storm clouds, causing upheavals, confusing thoughts, and darkening the hearts of men. And although this humanity possesses weapons to defend itself against these treacherous attacks, some do not know how to use them, and others do not even suspect that they possess them. (240, 53)
37. Humanity today, however great in number it may seem to you, is very small in comparison with the world of spiritual beings that surrounds it. With what power do those legions invade the paths of men; yet they do not perceive that world which surounds them, nor do they feel or hear it. (339, 29)
38. A person who has fallen into a sinful life is capable of drawing a whole legion of beings of darkness in his wake, who will cause him to leave a trail of calamitous influences in his path. (87, 7)
39. If from here you could see the "Spiritual Valley," where the materialized beings dwell—those who have earned nothing for the spiritual journey after this life—you would be devastated. But not for a single moment would you say, "How terrible is the justice of God!" No, instead you would exclaim, "How ungrateful, how unjust, and how cruel we have been to ourselves! How indifferent to our souls, and how cold we have been as disciples of Jesus!"
40. Therefore, the Father has permitted those beings to manifest themselves in your lives from time to time and to give you the painful, fearful news of their gloomy and restless existence. They are inhabitants of a world that possesses neither the radiant light of the spiritual homelands nor the beauties of the earth they once inhabited. (213,52-53)
41. The legions of souls that wander aimlessly through the world and knock in various ways at the doors of people's hearts are often voices seeking to tell you that you must awaken, that you must open your eyes to reality, that you must repent of your mistakes and renew yourselves, so that later, when you leave your body in the bosom of the earth, you will not, like them, have to mourn your loneliness, your ignorance, and your materialism. Recognize in this how even from darkness light springs forth, for no leaf on the tree moves without My will; likewise, those spiritual manifestations, which grow day by day, will eventually overwhelm people to such an extent that they will ultimately overcome humanity's skepticism. (87, 65)
42. Pray for those who depart from you and set out for the hereafter, for not all succeed in finding the way, not all are able to elevate themselves spiritually, nor do all attain peace in a short time.
43. Some live in the spiritual realm under the delusion of material life; some suffer from intense feelings of remorse; others are numb, buried beneath the earth along with their bodies, and still others cannot part from their loved ones, those who remained behind in the world, because lamentation, selfishness, and human ignorance hold them back, bind them to the material, and rob them of peace, light, and progress.
44. Allow those souls who still linger in this world to move on, without any further attachment to it; let them relinquish the possessions they owned and loved in this life, so that they may elevate their souls to infinity, where their true inheritance awaits. (106, 35–37)
45. It will be very beneficial for your soul to be received by them upon your arrival in the "Spiritual Valley" and to receive tokens of gratitude for the mercy you showed them. Great will be your joy when you then see them filled with light.
46. But how painful it would be if you were to encounter that legion of beings who are darkened by confusion, and to know that they expected an act of love from you and you did not grant it to them. (287, 58)
47. Truly, I tell you: Just as I treat you humans with so much love and mercy, so do I turn with the same caring love toward those who are atoning for their past transgressions in the hereafter. I send My light to these beings to free them from their distress, which is like darkness, and from their self-accusations, which are the "fire," so that I may then send them among humanity; so that those who once sowed pain in the hearts may now, endowed with the light of knowledge, become benefactors and protectors of their own brothers and sisters. (169, 6)
The Struggle of the Spirits for Humanity
48. Beyond your human life there exists a world of spirits, your brothers and sisters, beings invisible to humans who fight among themselves to win you over.
49. That struggle has its root in the differences in development in which the one and the other find themselves. While the beings of light, carried by the ideal of love, harmony, peace, and perfection, scatter light along humanity's path, always inspiring you with goodness and revealing to you all that is for the benefit of humankind, the beings who still cling to the materialism of the earth, who have been unable to free themselves from their selfishness and their love for the world, or who indefinitely feed human addictions and inclinations, sow confusion along humanity's path by darkening the mind, blinding the heart, and enslaving the will—in order to make use of people and turn them into tools for their plans, or to use them as if they were their own bodies.
50. While the Spiritual World of Light seeks to win over the souls of people in order to open a breach for them toward eternity; while those blessed hosts strive ceaselessly to grow in love, to become nurses at the bedside of the suffering, to become guides at the side of those who bear the burden of great responsibility, to become advisors to the youth, protectors of children, and companions to those who are forgotten and live alone, the legions of beings without the light of spiritual wisdom and without the uplifting feeling of love likewise work ceaselessly among humanity. But their goal is not to ease your path to the Spiritual Realm—no; the intention of these beings is entirely the opposite; their aim is to rule the world, to remain its masters, to perpetuate themselves on Earth, to dominate humanity, and to turn them into slaves and tools of their will—in a word: not to allow themselves to be deprived of what they have always regarded as theirs: the world.
51. Therefore, disciples: A fierce battle is raging between these two kinds of beings—a battle that your physical eyes cannot see, but whose repercussions make themselves felt in your world day after day.
52. In order for man to defend himself and free himself from evil influences, he needs knowledge of the truth that surrounds him; he must learn to pray with the spirit, and he must also know what abilities his being is endowed with, so that he may use them as weapons in this great battle— —between good and evil, light and darkness, spiritualization and materialism.
53. It is precisely the Spiritual World of Light that works and fights and prepares everything so that the world may one day set out on the path to spiritualization.
54. Reflect on all this, and you will be able to imagine the intensity of this struggle waged by your spiritual brothers and sisters, who strive for the salvation of humanity—a struggle that is for them a cup from which you continually make them drink the gall of ingratitude, since you limit yourselves to receiving from them all the good they bestow upon you, but without ever standing by their side to assist them in their struggle.
55. Few are those who know how to join them; few are those who are receptive to their inspirations and follow their guidance. But how strongly they move through life, how protected they feel, what delights and inspirations uplift their spirit!
56. The majority of people are torn between the two influences, unable to choose one, unwilling to commit fully to materialism, yet also unwilling to make the effort to free themselves from it and spiritualize their lives—that is, to elevate them through goodness, knowledge, and spiritual strength. These individuals are still fully engaged in a struggle with themselves.
57. Those who have completely surrendered to materialism, no longer heeding the voice of conscience, and who disregard everything pertaining to their soul, no longer struggle; they have been defeated in the struggle. They believe they have triumphed, believe they are free, and do not realize that they are prisoners and that it will be necessary for the legions of Light to descend into the darkness to free them.
58. I send this message of light to all the peoples of the earth so that people may awaken, so that they may become aware of who the enemy is that they must fight until they have defeated him, and what weapons they carry with them without knowing it. (321, 53 63)
The Connection with the Spiritual World of God
59. Disciples, awaken and recognize the time in which you live. I tell you: just as no one can stop My justice, neither can anyone close the gates to the beyond that My mercy has opened for you. No one will be able to prevent messages of light, hope, and wisdom from reaching humanity from those worlds. (60, 82)
60. I have permitted you to communicate with the beings of the beyond for a short time, something I did not approve of in the "Second Era" because you were not prepared for it at that time —neither they nor you. This door has been opened by Me in this era, and thereby I am fulfilling the prophecies of My prophets and some of My promises.
61. In the year 1866, this invisible door opened for you, as did the channel through which the chosen ones would proclaim the message that the spirits of light would bring to humanity.
62. Before that year, spiritual beings made themselves known among the nations and peoples of the earth, serving as the forerunners of My coming. (146, 15)
63. If the people of today were not so hard-hearted and insensitive, they would undoubtedly be constantly receiving messages from the Spiritual World, and at times they would find themselves surrounded by multitudes of beings who are ceaselessly working toward the awakening of humanity, and they would realize that they are never alone.
64. Some call that world "invisible," others "the beyond." But why? Simply because they lack the faith to "see" the spiritual, and because their human poverty makes them feel distant and alien from a world they ought to feel in their hearts. (294, 32-33)
65. You are amazed that a spiritual being reveals itself or makes contact with you, without considering that you, too, express yourselves and even reveal yourselves in other worlds, in other spheres.
66. Your "flesh" is unaware that your soul unites with Me in moments of prayer; it cannot perceive the drawing near to your Lord through this gift—not only to My Spirit, but also to that of your spiritual brothers and sisters, whom you remember in moments of prayer.
67. Nor are you aware that during your hours of rest, when the body sleeps, the soul—depending on its level of development and spiritualization—detaches itself from the body and appears in distant places, even in spiritual worlds that your mind cannot even imagine.
68. Let no one be surprised by these revelations. Understand that you are currently approaching the fulfillment of the ages. (148, 75–78)
69. I desire that pure thoughts be the language through which you communicate with your brothers and sisters who dwell in the spiritual realm, that you may understand one another in this way; and truly, your merits and your good works will be of benefit to them, just as the influence of those of My children, their inspirations, and their protection will be a powerful aid to you on your life's journey, so that together you may come to Me.
70. Spiritualize yourselves, and you will experience in your lives the benevolent presence of those beings: the caress of the mother who left her child behind on earth , the warmth and counsel of the father who likewise had to depart. (245,7-8)
71. This work will be criticized and rejected by many when they learn that spiritual beings have manifested themselves in it. But do not be concerned, for it will be only the ignorant who oppose this part of My teachings.
72. How often have the apostles, the prophets, and the messengers of the Lord spoken to the world under the influence of spiritual beings of light, without humanity being aware of it, and how often has each of you acted and spoken under the will of spiritual beings, without realizing it! And it is precisely this, which has always happened, that I have now confirmed to you. (163, 24-25)
73. If mere curiosity should prompt you to seek connection with the beyond, you will not find the truth; if the desire for greatness or vanity should lead you to it, you will not receive a true revelation. If temptation were to beguile your heart with false goals or selfish interests, you would likewise not receive the connection with the Light of My Holy Spirit. Only your reverence, your pure prayer, your love, your mercy, and your spiritual elevation will bring about the miracle that your soul spreads its wings, traverses the realms, and reaches the spiritual homelands, as far as it is My will.
74. This is the grace and comfort that the Holy Spirit has bestowed upon you, so that you might behold one and the same home and be convinced that there is no death and no separation, that not one of My creatures perishes with regard to eternal life. For in this "Third Era," you will also be able to embrace in a spiritual embrace those beings who have departed from this earthly life and whom you have known, whom you have loved, and whom you have lost in this world, but not in eternity.
75. Many of you have made contact with those beings with the help of My "workers." But truly, I tell you, this is not the perfect way to make contact, and the time is drawing near when incarnate and disembodied souls will be able to communicate with one another from spirit to spirit, without using any material or human means whatsoever, namely through inspiration, through the gift of spiritual sensitivity, revelation, or intuition. The eyes of your spirit will be able to perceive the presence of the beyond; thereafter, your heart will sense the expressions of life of the beings who populate the "Spiritual Valley," and then the joy of your spirit, as well as your knowledge and love for the Father, will be great.
76. Then you will know what the life of your soul is, who she is, and who she was, by recognizing yourselves without seeing yourselves within such narrow limits as those corresponding to your bodies. For the Father tells you: Even though your bodily matter is indeed small—how similar is your spirit to My Divine Spirit! (244, 21-24)
